District Dispatch: July 20 - 26

From the farm to the food bank, Senator Scott Hill stayed focused on the people of District 24.

Senator Scott Hill had a full week of meaningful conversations and local events, connecting with Kansans across the district.

He began the week in Marion, where he joined the Patriot Meeting to introduce newly selected Representative Greg Wilson—a longtime community servant who has led both the local Republican Party and Old Abilene Town.

Later that day, Scott stood alongside Senate President Ty Masterson in Wichita as he announced his run for Governor. “Kansas isn’t living up to its potential,” Scott said. “Senator Masterson is the kind of leader who’s ready to help us change that.”

Tuesday brought a sharp focus on agriculture as Scott joined the Regional Farm Bureau Listening Tour at the Historic Hays House in Council Grove. With strong remarks from Jennifer Latzke about the shrinking agricultural workforce, Scott echoed a growing concern: “As fewer Kansans work in agriculture, its political influence weakens. That’s why we must stay organized and proactive.” He encouraged Farm Bureau leaders to keep fighting for the future of Kansas farms.

Later that day, he attended an Abilene City Commission candidate forum, listening to residents share concerns ranging from infrastructure to economic development.

In Dickinson County, Scott joined an event hosted by the Community Foundation, where he connected with Mary Jean Eisenhower and Todd Arrington from the Eisenhower Presidential Library to discuss how history, civic life, and economic development go hand in hand in rural Kansas.

Scott also spent time in Salina, meeting with local leaders at the YMCA, including Director Chris Lehecka and Executive Director Jennifer Brunning.

The conversation centered around youth programs, community wellness, and the Y’s impact on families in the region.

To close out the week, Scott visited the Salina Food Bank, where he witnessed the powerful work being done to support local families.

That day alone, the team served meals to 640 children—a reminder that hunger relief is a mission we must all support.
