Abilene, Kansas — Surrounded by family, friends, and community leaders, Kansas Senator Scott Hill was officially sworn in today at the Eisenhower Presidential Library to represent Kansas’ 24th Senate District. Hill takes over the seat previously held by Kansas Senator J.R. Claeys, who accepted a federal appointment. The oath of office was administered by Judge Ben Sexton.
A lifelong farmer, rancher, and former state representative from Dickinson County, Hill emphasized his commitment to conservative principles and practical leadership.
“I’m here to serve—not to spend,” Hill said. “The people of Kansas deserve a government that lives within its means, just like they do. Controlling spending and continuing tax relief are top priorities for me.”
Hill has pledged to reverse unsustainable budget growth and keep state spending increases below the rate of inflation. He called out the need for disciplined fiscal policy that puts taxpayers first and fuels long-term economic strength.
On education, Hill stressed the importance of accuracy, transparency, and outcomes.“Kansas spends over $12 billion a year on education—but not enough of it reaches the classroom or improves results,” Hill said. “We’ve had strong findings from legislative post audits showing where money isn’t delivering. It’s time we take that data seriously and focus on funding what actually works for students.”
Hill’s priorities reflect the concerns of communities across the 24th District, including Salina, Abilene, Chapman, Solomon, and Minneapolis. His focus: supporting families, strengthening rural economies, and making government accountable again.
“I’ll keep showing up, listening first, and making decisions based on principle—not pressure,” Hill said. “That’s how we get Kansas back on track.”
